Bridging issues occur when printing horizontal spans (bridges) between two points without support. Poor bridges sag, droop, or show rough underbelly textures. Related to overhang issues.
Cooling insufficient — filament doesn't solidify fast enough mid-span
Bridge speed too high — not enough cooling time per segment
Temperature too high — filament too runny to hold shape
Bridge length too long — exceeds material's capability
Fan not reaching the bridge area quickly enough
Maximize cooling fan speed to 100% during bridges
Reduce bridge speed to 20-30mm/s to allow cooling
Lower print temperature by 5-10°C for bridge sections
Enable 'bridge flow ratio' reduction (0.8-0.9) to reduce sagging
Add supports for spans over 50mm with most materials
Orient model to minimize bridging distance
Use PETG or PLA+ which tend to bridge better than ABS
